The VPA will welcome educational leaders from around the state for its annual leadership academy at the Killington Grand Resort Hotel. Whether attending as an individual or a team, we encourage you to take this opportunity for colleagueship, inspiration, and professional learning. Dr. Joe Sanfelippo

Dr. Joe Sanfelippo spent the last 12 years as the Superintendent of the Fall Creek School District in Fall Creek, WI. The Fall Creek School District was named an Innovative District in 2016 and 2017 by the International Center for Leadership in Education, He was named Education Dive Superintendent of the Year in 2019 and presents regularly around the country.

Tuesday Afternoon Keynote Speaker
Mercedes de Guardiola

Mercedes de Guardiola is the author of “Vermont for the Vermonters”: The History of Eugenics in the Green Mountain State. A leading expert on Vermont’s eugenics movement, she testified before the state legislature during hearings in the 2020s. Her research examines public policies of child health and welfare, mass institutionalization and deinstitutionalization, sterilization, and family separation. She earned her BA from Dartmouth College and lives in New York City.

Wednesday Morning Keynote
Dr. Wendi Williams

Psychologist, author, Provost and Senior Vice President of Fielding Graduate University, Dr. Williams bridges practical wisdom with scholarly aplomb to make knowledge creation of and about Black women and girls accessible to them. She has worked with Vermont educators over the past several years, helping to lead the Equity Practitioners Network in 2021 and 2022. She has committed decades of her work grounded in the experiences of everyday folx, ensuring that the sense we make of their lives in the halls of academia aligns with who they know and understand of themselves.

Connie Hamilton

Connie Hamilton, an education influencer, showcases a diverse career in impactful teaching, school leadership, and authorship. With over two decades of experience, she seamlessly transitioned from teaching to roles as an instructional coach and district administrator. As a principal at both elementary and secondary levels, Connie emphasized innovation and high-quality instruction. Beyond schools, she’s a celebrated author of seven books, sharing insights fostering quality teaching and leadership. Connie’s dynamic presentations challenge traditional views, leaving a lasting impact and inspiring positive change in education.


Need a Team Room?

Team rooms are available to districts on a first come/first serve basis. There are breakout rooms available on Monday, 7/29, Thursday after 10am on 7/31, and Friday, 8/1. To reserve space, you have to contact Mallori directly at mlongevin@vpaonline.org. The reservations for these spaces go through the VPA during this week, not directly with Killington.



Cancellation Policy

  • For all Vermont Principals’ Association professional learning events, the VPA must be notified of any cancellations no later than 10 days prior to the event. Cancellation notifications received after the 10 day deadline will be subject to a fee of 50% of the total cost of registration.
