The NFHS is the body that writes the rules of competition for most high school sports and activities in the United States. Most high schools, whether public or private, belong to their state’s high school association; in turn, each state association belongs to the NFHS. Over 17,000 high schools belong to associations that are members of the NFHS.

National Principals Association (NPA)

The National Principals Association (principals.org) is the national professional home for principals and assistant principals across the PreK–12 continuum. As the unified voice of the profession, it brings school leaders together to strengthen leadership, elevate their collective influence, and support student success at every stage. Built on more than a century of leadership and commitment to school leaders, the organization advances the profession through advocacy, professional learning, and peer networks.

National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP)

The National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP), founded in 1921, is a professional organization serving elementary and middle school principals and other education leaders throughout the U.S., Canada, and overseas. The association believes that the progress and wellbeing of the individual child must be at the forefront of all elementary and middle school planning and operations. Further, NAESP supports elementary and middle-level principals as the primary catalyst for creating a lasting foundation for learning, driving school and student performance, and shaping the long-term impact of school improvement efforts.
