Please be aware that there are two types of VPA membership: 

1) School Dues – required of schools to participate in post-season, interscholastic play and other VPA-sponsored student activities.

2) Professional/Individual Membership – information below:

The VPA professional membership is available to school leaders in Vermont and elsewhere. Principals and other Heads of School, Assistant and Associate Principals, Athletic Directors, aspiring principals, retired school leaders and others interested in being part of this influential professional community are invited to join. We believe that EVERY education leader in Vermont will benefit from membership in their state professional organization. Your annual professional dues serve you in many ways including:

  • $425   Active Principals, Co-Principals, Heads of School, Tech Center Directors, Central Office Administrators (full membership), Assistant and Associate Principals
  • $275   Athletic Directors, VTCLA & VCSEA members–partial membership
  • $100   Aspiring Principals and Principals in Transition
  • $75   Retired Principals

*National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP)

  • $259   Principals, Assistant/Associate Principals, Heads of Schools, Tech Center Directors
  • $99     Emeritus (retired)

*National Principals Association (NPA)

  • $250    Active Principals, Co-Principals, Heads of School, Tech Center Directors, Assistant and Associate Principals
  • $50  Retired Principals

Reminder: Vermont Employee Assist Program

  • INVEST EAP, The Employee Assistance Program is available to almost all Vermont school leaders and offers help and support for you and the members of your household for a wide range of issues.

Support At the National Level National Federation of High School Sports (NFHS)

  • Resources and support on all kinds of sorts of related rules and issues, The NFHS is the body that writes the rules of competition for most high school sports and activities in the United States. Most high schools, whether public or private, belong to their state’s high school association; in turn, each state association belongs to the NFHS. Over 17,000 high schools belong to associations that are members of the NFHS.

National Principals Association (NPA) Leadership Networks

  • NPA is the leading organization of and voice for school principals, assistant principals, and school leaders from across the United States and 35 countries around the world.

National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP)

  • As a national organization, NAESP operates through a network of affiliated associations in every state, the District of Columbia, Canada, and overseas.
