Professional Learning & Support Committee (PL&S)

The VPA Professional Learning and Support Committee is one of three standing committees that support the members of the Vermont Principals’ Association.

PL&S Purpose: provide and promote high quality professional learning relevant to Vermont school leaders

2018-2019 Goals:

  • Provide Professional Learning opportunities that supports “excellence through equity” for all students
  • Annually survey school leaders about their Professional Learning needs and interests
  • Develop a set of additional Professional Learning offerings, as requested and needed by Vermont Principals
  • Create Professional Learning Collaborative (partnerships)
  • Develop and maintain resource library and professional learning calendar
  • Continue to develop networking opportunities for Vermont principals
  • Produce the VPA Leadership Academy

PL&S Committee Policy and Procedures

Membership

By policy, this committee shall have eleven members, elected by the school membership at the annual meeting. The committee will be facilitated by the Vermont Principals’ Association’s Development Coordinator. The membership of the committee shall represent the state of Vermont geographically, by grade configuration (elementary, middle and high school) and by gender. Members serve a three-year term, beginning at the September committee meeting, and have the option to renew for a second three-year term. In cases of vacancies, the VPA’s Executive Council will appoint a representative to complete the year (ending at the August meeting).

Meetings

The PL&S Committee will meet a minimum of five times during the school year, at least two of which will be in person with the remaining meetings can be held electronically. At the August PL&S Committee meeting (at the Academy), the committee will elect a chairperson, or co-chairs. The chair(s) will work with the committee members and the Development Coordinator to develop a meeting schedule before September 1st of each school year. Meeting schedules, agendas, and minutes will be posted on the VPA website.

Friday, March 15th, 12 to 3 – Burlington

Friday May 3rd, 9:30 to 11:30, then w/EC for lunch, Capitol Plaza, Montpelier

Thursday, August 1st, 4 to 6 at Stoweflake

Friday, August 2nd, 8:30 to 10:30 at Stoweflake
