VPA LACROSSE COMMITTEE

Members Present: Dan Marlow, Joe O’Brien, Dean Cprkum, Terry Harlow, Judy Reed,
                                Sharon Winzler, Melba Masse, Bob Johnson

Minutes:

1. motion by Terry, second by Dean to approve minutes of 1/15/08. Vote – approved unanimously.

2. Bob J. made committee aware of Burlington Girl’s lacrosse issue. They are a DI School, however there has been some concern as people (including the coach) thought they were DII. This was picked up by Burlington a week before the tournament. They will be seeded in the DI tournament. No further action needed.

3. discussion on letter and proposals from Jono Chapin on behalf of the boy’s lacrosse coaches. Request that we consider using 3 officials in the finals. Terry noted that there are only 6 officials in Vermont will experience using that type of system so that would limit the options of available officials. Boy’s officials would rather do this next year and give so time for other officials to use the 3 person system. Note – girl’s already use 3 person crew in the finals. No further action. Dean will send an e-mail to coaches explaining the situation and encouraging them to talk with their AD’s about this situation. Second request was to list previous winners on the back of the program instead of the rules. This will be done.

4. seeded tournament brackets. Finals to be at Burlington HS. Note – BHS will not be available at this time next year due to hosting the New England Track Championships.
